One Computer Science MSc thesis to be presented on 31 August

Thursday, 31 August there will be a master thesis presentation in Computer Science at Lund University, Faculty of Engineering.

Title: Artikelplaceringssystem för industriell robot med constraintprogrammering

This master thesis, on behalf of Cognibotics, presents an exact solution to a 3D bin-packing problem in e-commerce through constraint programming. The solution has also been implemented as a proof-of-concept on the HKM1800, manufactured by Cognibotics. The algorithm takes into account various constraints to find an efficient and cost-effective solution. The results are discussed against other methods, both in terms of quality of the solution, computation time, and other aspects. The work shows that constraint programming is a viable method, and perhaps the best for this type of packing problem.
